Being part of a cohousing community is all about living, working and playing together. From monthly General Meetings to potluck dinners to meditation groups to talent shows, we have many ways to come together — to celebrate, and to keep this place thriving.

Built in 2000, Pathways Cohousing (pathwayscohousing.org) is a 24-unit community on 46 beautiful acres of woodlands, wetlands, and trails with access to the town bike path. The housing units are situated in three clusters with a common house at the apex of this clover leaf plan, which has event space, guest rooms, an indoor kids play space, a fitness room, an outdoor playground, as well as a community garden. Ten EV fast chargers were recently installed in the central parking lot.

The buildings were sited and designed for solar access and energy-efficiency. Materials and systems were selected to minimize ecological impact and maximize indoor air quality. The homes were designed on an intimate scale, with front porches providing a welcoming bridge between the community and private realm. The community plans capital maintenance well in advance and has never levied a special assessment.

Good food, shopping, music, and entertainment are less than 10 minutes away in Northampton and Easthampton.

House #6

House #6 is a lovely 3 bedroom Energy Star home with hardwood birch flooring, an open floor plan and a central vacuum system. The way this home captures and passes light is unsurpassed. From early morning until sunset, the south-facing rooms with abundant windows are always lit up in different, wonderful ways — the dining room especially, with its bump-out windows, vaulted ceiling and skylights. And the same goes for the woods that surround the home.

It has a wonderful private deck and stone patio in the back, for quiet morning coffee or entertaining at night around the fire pit. The full, finished basement with cork floors provides a nice separate space for kids in the family room/play space and for guests, who can stay in their own windowed room with an adjacent full bath.

The house is primarily heated and cooled with a new (2024) mini-split, and solar panels (owned) take care of much of the electric bill. Natural gas powers a new water heater (2026) and a forced hot water boiler that provides supplemental heat throughout the house when needed.
